Indooroopilly residence
2009
The design of the Indooroopilly Residence was one of SMITH Architects’ first new homes, conceived with an openness to both the environment and experimentation. The client was eager to explore the balance between modernity and tradition, resulting in a design that both engages with the site and feels like a home.
Brickwork, timber, and stained glass provided texture and grounding to the site, while the orientation of the home maximised natural light.
Passive design principles were incorporated to create a home that remained comfortable year-round. Grey water systems were integrated, along with water storage and a large solar panel installation.
