‘Little Black Cabin’ Blackheath - Architects Blue Mountains

A response to place and a desire to restore the early 1900’s workers cottage drove this project for Smith Architects.

The cabin is a small, detailed response to space planning. Every millimetre is considered to ensure that the building.

Responding to Bushfire attack levels and an unstable aging structure, we protected the existing cottage by wrapping it with a structural skeleton and charred HWD timber cladding.

This design decision allowed us to expose the existing external cladding to the internal spaces and insulate the cabin, maintaining and protecting the character of the structure. If you’re in need of an Architect in the Blue Mountains, then contact us today.
